Planting Carrot Tops in a Window Sill Dish Garden

This very short article tells how to make a simple rock garden planted with carrot tops.

What you need:

  1. Some carrots with tops on them (See the fresh vegetable aisle at the grocery store.)
  2. An assortment of small stones and or sea shells
  3. A shallow sided wide bowl like a soup bowl

What you do:

  1. Cut the tops off of several carrots (the green end with about 1inch of carrot) and put them in your dish standing up like little trees.
  2. Surround them with the shells or stones to anchor them in place.
  3. Put a small amount of water in the dish.
  4. In a few weeks you will be surprised to see what happens!
