From educational to just plain fun, these online and offline printable projects and free activities will help children easily transition from summer to school in no time.

Going back-to-school is that time of year that most children dread. Why not make the transition from summer vacation to school time easier with the following online and offline activities? From creative printables to fun back-to-school online games, children will ease back into the school mindset with these free Internet projects.

Printables

  • Activity Village Back-to-School Cards – This adorable printable project is for children who are of reading age. These little cards are a great way for parents to add a special note to children for added encouragement. Two printable cards per page are included in this helpful and fun project. Adobe Reader is required.
  • DLTK-Kids School Writing Paper – Choose from four different lined-paper templates in this printable project from DLTK-Kids. Simply select the template and print. To locate from main page, type “School Writing Paper” in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Kid Printables Lunchbox Notes – What a wonderful reminder to tell a child how much they are loved. Print a note, write a special message and drop in your child's lunchbox. Several adorable designs to choose from and four cards are printed per page. Click on the “Lunchbox Notes” tab at the top of the homepage to locate.
  • Crayola Back-to-School Activity Page – This printable project from Crayola is a fun offline activity. Print and find 11 things that are wrong in the picture. To locate this activity from the homepage, type “Back-to-School” in the search box at the top of the page.

Coloring Projects

  • Parenting Kaboose Back-to-School Coloring Pages – This black and white printable project is for younger children. There are seven coloring pages available. Click on the picture, print and color.   • Primary Games Back-to-School Match Game – This simple online match game is for younger children. To play, click on two tiles to find a match. To locate this game, type “Back-to-School Match Game” in the search box at the top of main page.
  • Space Place Beat the Heat – This online game is for older kids and is perfect for summer. Match the mixed up words with the answer before time runs out.
  • Jigzone Pencil Points Jigsaw Puzzle – This online puzzle is for young or old alike. Customize the puzzle by selecting different puzzle sizes, cuts and difficulty level. Hurry, before time runs out!
  • Primary Games Time for School Maze – This online maze from Primary Games is pretty simple. To win, use the arrow keys to find the way out of this maze. Java is required to play.
  • Primary Games Arcade Shockers Shock ‘Em – This online game is just plain silly. Aim the SweetTarts sour candies at the students by clicking the spacebar before time runs out. Requires Shockwave.
