Aug 20, 2006 Elece Hollis

This delightful exercise is used by teachers to help children learn healthy food choices. It has words and actions to reinforce ten foods for a healthy brain.

Learning the Brain Food Boogie is fun and entertaining. It is also be so much easier than simply memorizing a list. The silliness of the motions helps your mind key to each food so you can remember the list with ease. If you know what to eat to make your brain healthier you are smarter already! Here's how it goes!

The first brain food is yogurt. Pretend to pour a bowl of yogurt on your head.

The second brain food is blueberries. Pretend to stick a blueberry in each ear.

The third brain food is spinach.

Hold an imaginary leaf of spinach on each hand. Slap the right palm on your left shoulder and the left on the right shoulder.

The fourth brain food is salmon.

Pretend to catch a big one and slap it (both hands) on your stomach.

The fifth brain food is bananas.

Act out grabbing a banana in each fist and parking one on each hip like handles.

The sixth brain food is brown bread.

Pretend to place a loaf on your chair and sit on it!

The seventh food is olive oil.

Pretend to rub olive oil on your legs.

The eighth brain food is raw almonds.

Pretend to crack two nut shells by clapping the palms of your hands on one elbow and then the other..

The ninth brain food is brocoli.

Pretend to stick brocoli flowers between your toes.

The last great food is tomatoes.

Jump up, throw them on the floor and pretend to stomp on them.

Learn to feed your child foods for better brain function. Make a game of it!

The point of this silly game is just making it fun so you will be able to remember the foods. It is like a goofy commercial helps you remember what the advertisement is trying to sell. Right?
Do you know of other foods that are super healthy?
