Party Ideas for 12-14 Year Old Girls

How to Plan Birthday-Party Fun for Junior High School Girls

May 9, 2009 Janis Masyk-Jackson

Let's plan a party!

In planning a party, first decide whether you want to have any kind of a theme. For example, if having a Twilight theme, be sure the invitations and decorations reflect this. The color scheme could be red, white and black. There could be balloons and a table setting in these colors and pictures of the characters placed around the room. Although themes can be fun, they’re not necessary, so if one don’t have an idea, don’t stress over it.

Party Food For Teenage GirlsKeep the food simple. Pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs are still a popular staple at this age. It’s best to check with guests in advance to see if there are any allergies or dietary restrictions. For example, one of your guests may be a vegetarian, so if you are ordering pizza, be sure to order some without meat. Make sure to keep lots of snacks available as the evening rolls on. Instead of a cake, consider having each person decorate their own cupcake. Have 2-3 different icings and a variety of toppings.

Party Games and Activities

  • Make a birthday scrapbook. Get a scrapbook kit and give each guest a page to create for the birthday girl. Assuming someone will have a camera and will be taking pictures throughout the party, have everyone keep a blank space open so a picture of them can be inserted when the film is printed.
  • Most girls love jewelry. Get a jewelry-making kit and let each girl make a piece of jewelry. Not only is it fun, but they’ll have a keepsake to remember your party with. Another keepsake idea is to get plain white T-shirts and decorate them with fabric paint.
  • Games are always fun. Twister can bring a ton of laughs to a party. Limbo is another crowd pleaser. You might consider playing freeze dance. Put on some music and have everyone dance. When the music stops, everyone has to freeze in whatever position they are in. Anyone who moves is out.
  • Even at this age, balloons can still be fun. Have everyone blow up a balloon. Be sure everyone takes their shoes off, then give each guest a piece of thread and have them tie the balloon around their ankles. The object of the game is to stomp on everyone else’s balloons. Whoever is the last person with a balloon left tied around their ankle wins!

Fun Things to do at a Slumber Party

  • If having a sleepover, here are a couple of late night ideas. Give each guest a flashlight and play hide-and-go-seek in the dark. Lots of kids enjoy scary stories. Huddle around a circle and give everyone a glow stick and let the stories begin!
  • As the night winds down, have some movies ready. Check with friends to see if there are any movies that the majority of your friends would like to see.

These are some good starting tools for planning a party. The rest is all up to one's imagination!

This was amazing advice last year and this year i had the best parties anyone could have. i loved the balloon game and all the other games and now im helping my little sister with her 8th party im getting everything for her and planning everything booking stuff and im using the advice from this website, cause its so good. back to my birthday party last year i had a really big party down a the rec (recreational area) and loads of people were invited we went round the rec until it was midnight then we had a sleepover and the girls were in one room and the boys were next door to us and we pushed them all outside and threw waterballoons at them it was so funny and while the boys were soaking wet outside the girls watched Twilight and High School Musical 1 2 and 3. we only let the boys in when it was 5 am and they were so cold they were shivering.

Anyway great advice
