This short article gives instructions for planting a windowsill garden.

Are you ready to plant a cheerful little garden in your kitchen window to brighten dreary winter days?

For this project you will need:

  1. An egg carton made of recycled paper
  2. Potting soil
  3. A packet of flower seeds (Pansies, and marigolds are good choices because they can be replanted outside later.)
  4. Water

What you will do:

  1. Carefully cut the lid off the egg carton.
  2. Fill each cavity with potting soil.
  3. Bury two or three seeds right below the dirt surface in each egg cup.
  4. Set the egg carton in a sunny windowsill.
  5. Water the soil carefully.
  6. Watch for the flower plants sprout and bloom.
