Baking with kids is a challenge, but parents should encourage the culinary arts. Here is a kid- friendly recipe.

Does your child love to cook? This recipe is great to warm up your kitchen on a cold morning and make your house smell spicy and sweet. This recipe is simple. It is a real from-scratch recipe that is a real crowd pleaser, yet it is fast and easy. It is easy to mix up and bake and yummy without any frosting.

With hot cocoa or cold milk it is wonderful for breakfast or mid-morning break. I like coffee cake because it is less time consuming to prepare than cookies or muffins and more foolproof than biscuits. Try my old time favorite sour cream coffee cake.

For a special mother/daughter time together-- mix up a coffee cake and while it bakes try a fall art project like lamp shade styling . Then sample the cake with tea afterwards.

Do you have little ones to keep occupied? You might enjoy paper arts with them. Or spend the morning writing pen pal letters.
