All students should learn the basics of reading a calendar. If a student is curious about Leap Year start there and finish with a calendar crafting art project.

February holds its own mystery with leap day. Why do we have an extra day every fourth year? Why is it tacked onto the end of February? Use my recent article about Leap Year on Georgian Calendars to teach the significance of Leap Day. Every child can learn how calendars work by crafting one himself. Try this educational project, Calendars Handmade By Kids, in your classroom or homeschool this month. Simplify or enrich the project to make it fit your child's age and abilities. Kids will love this chance to be creative calendar designers.
