I hope that as summer approaches and children think about pets, they will consider carefully what pet is right for the whole family and for the situation and circumstances avaliable.
What kind of animal is best? Which are hard to care for and which are the best bet? Which have special needs and possibly hidden expenses included? Children should research the animal they want to own and carefully consider the needs and concerns that go with that animal.
Sadly, pets are often taken on impulse with no real idea of what will be involved in their care. people find the animal unfit for their home and family, the animal sickens or dies, the family finds the animal grows too large or needs special foods or care. All this should be taken into consideration ahead of time.
